We are hoping to unplug from the endless barrage of news that has been going on for the past couple of weeks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>It\u2019s still mostly business as usual in the Kingdom<\/strong>, save for limited drone interceptions over Riyadh and the Eastern Province, as we\u2019ve been spared the brunt of Iranian attacks targeting critical infrastructure all over the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>Tehran is claiming it is \u201cnot responsible\u201d for strikes on our oil infrastructure<\/strong>, including strikes on Ras Tanura and the Shaybah oil field, Iran\u2019s ambassador to Saudi Arabia told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/iran-wants-serious-review-arab-gulf-ties-denies-role-saudi-oil-attacks-2026-03-15\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>Iran <\/strong><strong>seems to want a second look at Gulf relations: <\/strong>Diplomatic relationships with Gulf countries are due for a \u201cserious review\u201d following US-Israeli strikes, the ambassador said. Riyadh continues to successfully thwart most incoming Iranian strikes, allowing domestic airspace and businesses to remain open with limited physical disruption.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong> Non-oil sectors like tourism and real estate will inevitably take a hit from regional anxiety, yet there is a possibility the war actually improves Saudi\u2019s balance sheet for 2026, analysts told the business information service. Brent crude topped USD 103 \/ bbl on Friday \u2014 if the Kingdom sustains an average output of 7.5 mn bbl \/ d with oil staying in the USD 90 \/ bbl range, its budget deficit could shrink by 1% this year, beating the government\u2019s initial forecast of a 3.3% shortfall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>ADCB says the war could be a boon for Saudi\u2019s deficit, too \u2014 but only if the conflict <\/strong><strong>remains limited<\/strong>. We have more on that in today\u2019s news well, below.<\/p>\n<hr style=\"height: 2px;border-width: 0;color: gray;background-color: gray\" \/>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> <strong>ENERGY \u2014 Gulf producers watch <\/strong><strong>bns<\/strong><strong> of USD slip through<\/strong><strong> Hormuz: <\/strong>The near-shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz has already erased an estimated USD 15 bn in energy revenues for Gulf exporters, according to Kpler data picked up by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/041bd1f6-f27b-41fd-a051-9ff337985cae\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Financial Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>The breakdown:<\/strong> The chokepoint typically moves some USD 1.2 bn worth of crude, refined products, and LNG every day (based on last year\u2019s prices and volumes), and currently, at least USD 10.7 bn worth of cargoes are still stranded inside, awaiting safe passage. Losses are piling up unevenly, however, with Saudi Arabia alone missing out on some USD 4.5 bn in revenues since the start of the war.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>Meanwhile, <\/strong><strong>Asia looks <\/strong><strong>to the US to<\/strong><strong> diversify oil sources beyond the Middle East: <\/strong>The Hormuz chokepoint is pushing Asian countries to seek US energy suppliers as alternatives to reduce Middle East dependence, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-03-15\/asia-seeking-us-energy-to-reduce-mideast-reliance-zeldin-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports. Crude flows through the pipeline are ramping up toward its full 7 mn bbl \/ d capacity within days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>This second chance could create a \u201chealthy\u201d competition: <\/strong>Saudi investments in inland logistics zones and Red Sea gateways will narrow the perceived gap with established hubs in the UAE, Wolfgang Lehmacher, former head of supply chain and transport industries at the World Economic Forum, tells EnterpriseAM.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>BUT- In a world of weaponized interdependence, there\u2019s more value in a connected Middle Eastern platform of interoperable hubs<\/strong> \u2014 Jeddah, Yanbu, Dammam, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Salalah, Aqaba, and others \u2014 rather than in a zero-sum race where everyone tries to become \u201cthe\u201d hub, Lehmacher said. The advice would be to compete on performance but collaborate on standards, data, and interoperability, ensuring the region becomes more indispensable and resilient to global shippers and investors, he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\"> What\u2019s next?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Players could opt to design portfolios of corridors that give them options when geopolitics,<\/strong><strong> markets, or climate turn against us<\/strong>, Lehmacher said. \u201cBy shifting part of the flow away from the Gulf and toward the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, these corridors do not make Hormuz irrelevant, but they do change the geometry of power in the region: market access, risk, and bargaining leverage will no longer be concentrated in a single narrow waterway,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>For now, the real indicator will be cargo movement itself <\/strong>\u2014 whether cargo shifts in scale and shipping lines actually shift flows.
