The war (yes, it\u2019s a war, regardless of what the Trump administration might say) officially entered its second week, and it\u2019s hard to believe it has only been a week when looking at the pace of escalation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>A<\/strong><strong>s things stand: <\/strong>US President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/iran-war-enters-second-week-trump-demands-unconditional-surrender-2026-03-07\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told reporters<\/a> yesterday that his administration will keep attacking Iran until the country no longer has a military or leaders in power. \u201cAt some point, I don't think there will be anybody left maybe to say \u2018We surrender,\u2019\u201d Trump said. His remarks came shortly after equally jarring remarks from the Iranian side \u2014 \u201cas long as the presence of US bases in the region continue, the countries will not enjoy peace,\u201d Iran\u2019s speaker of parliament <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mb_ghalibaf\/status\/2030322032080978025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>MEANWHILE AT HOME- Riyadh could retaliate if Iran\u2019s attacks persist: <\/strong>Saudi Arabia remains committed to a diplomatic resolution to Iran\u2019s standoff with the US and Israel, but warned Tehran that further attacks could prompt a retaliatory response, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/saudi-has-told-iran-not-attack-it-warns-possible-retaliation-sources-say-2026-03-07\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reports, citing unnamed sources. A quick overview:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ongoing strikes forced a temporary halt to operations at <strong>Dubai International Airport <\/strong>yesterday \u2014 sending passengers into underground train tunnels to shelter;<\/li>\n<li><strong>In Manama<\/strong>, warning sirens sounded for the seventh time this weekend as a missile attack targeted the US Fifth Fleet\u2019s service center;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Qatar <\/strong>intercepted a number of projectiles over Doha;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kuwait <\/strong>temporarily shut its airspace to all commercial traffic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>There were signs we\u2019re heading towards de-escalation:<\/strong> Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian apologized to Gulf neighbors for recent strikes, announcing that Tehran\u2019s interim leadership council has halted all attacks on regional states \u2014 provided their territories or airspace are not used to launch strikes against Iran. The concession offered a clear off-ramp and a potential diplomatic reset with GCC leaders who were reaching the end of their rope.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>We might\u2019ve had something to do with it: <\/strong>The Kingdom stepped up direct diplomatic engagement with Tehran over the past few days to try to contain the ongoing conflict and prevent further market disruption, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-03-06\/saudi-arabia-has-intensified-direct-line-to-iran-to-defuse-war\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> reported on Friday, citing unnamed European officials.
