This was our gripe with the movie, especially given that the family\u2019s acting felt forced and was subpar at best. The unsuccessful choice regarding the secondary plotline would have been tolerable if it had not taken up more than half of the movie\u2019s runtime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The best part about the movie? The dinosaurs, <\/strong>who were a joy to watch on screen, whether in their natural habitat or in battle scenes. Encounters between humans and dinosaurs were not as frequent as expected, with the first interaction between the two occurring an hour into the movie. Aspects like cinematography and special effects prove to be the movie\u2019s strong suit. The movie score was also captivating, coming as no surprise from the Oscar-winning French composer Alexandre Desplat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>While performances weren\u2019t exceptional<\/strong>, they were good enough, especially when compared to the family\u2019s scenes. It\u2019s not your standard novel, and differs greatly from Al Hosseini\u2019s first two literary endeavors. And the Mountains Echoed does not follow traditional linear storytelling. The US-style diner\u2019s aesthetic is essentially what you would have if you combined \u201880s classic film Back to the Future, and Grand Theft Auto Vice City \u2014 a tropical spaceship. Did Talkback stick the culinary landing, however? <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>First things first, Talkback sticks to the shtick. <\/strong>From astronaut figurines to box television sets \u2014 the kind of which the moon landing was watched on \u2014 and dinner mats inspired by spaceship control panels, Talkback wants you to feel the \u201880s pastel diner fantasy \u2014 and at that, they succeed. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Looking for a comfort meal? Look no further. <\/strong>One would expect a diner of Talkback\u2019s cosmic nature to serve up some outrageous otherworldly dishes, yet that\u2019s far from reality, seeing as the New Cairo spot is all about comfort meals with a side of nostalgic appeal. Talkback\u2019s menu is reminiscent of noughties casual dining destinations such as Chili\u2019s, TGF Fridays, and Johnny Carino\u2019s. There\u2019s no excess and no pretense \u2014 it\u2019s just comfort food that takes you back. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Forget about your diet and dig in. <\/strong>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/dev-talkback-restaurant.pantheonsite.io\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">menu<\/a> has all sorts of US diner classics; think cheeseburgers, burritos, giant appetizer platters, fajitas, Detroit pizzas, pastas, and hefty mains. If you\u2019re craving it, Talkback likely has it \u2014 or a variation of it. We opted for the signature Talkback chicken alfredo, the sticky sweet and sour chicken, spinach dip, truffle fries, and some peach iced tea to wash it all down. Some stuck the landing, others didn\u2019t. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The sticky chicken won us over<\/strong>, but that\u2019s the only dish that stood out. Don\u2019t get us wrong, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, yet unfortunately our high expectations were not met. The sticky sweet and sour chicken \u2014 and its side of jasmine rice \u2014 was the star of the show, and the truffle fries were a solid second place. The spinach dip was more cheese than spinach, and the alfredo was a little on the dry side, though that\u2019s when the iced tea came to the rescue.
