Let\u2019s get to it.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The IMF wants to see progress on privatization before a loan review\u2026: <\/span><span style=\"\">The lender wants<\/span><span> to see progress on privatizing state-owned companies and moving to a flexible exchange rate before it goes ahead with the first review of the country\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c374319e-e849-44f6-bf5a-8179fb41caf5\" style=\"\">USD 3 bn assistance package<\/a><\/span><span>, Bloomberg reported <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/7c21c86c-40a9-40f1-8e97-0dc7f259a895\" style=\"\">last week<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">. The new council reportedly seeks to eliminate obstacles to new investment and accelerate licensing for new projects, as well as help create an environment that is more conducive to investment. That includes monitoring the progress of state institutions in implementing investment plans, following up on public-private partnerships, and setting mechanisms for settling investment disputes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">ENERGY- <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">#1- Eni is reportedly <\/span><span style=\"-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;font-weight:700;text-decoration-skip-ink:none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/a16e0275-994f-4318-8b49-db49b2575af3\" style=\"\">preparing to start drilling<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\"> an exploration well at its Mediterranean <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">North East Hap\u2019y concession<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> in September, local press reported. Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel) \u2014 Eni\u2019s 50\/50 joint venture with the EGPC \u2014  will reportedly handle the drilling of the Orion X1 well, which is expected to cost USD 130 mn. The well is 70% owned by Eni and 30% by London-headquartered oil and gas company Energean. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">#2- Energy major Chevron is <\/span><span style=\"-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;font-weight:700;text-decoration-skip-ink:none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/chevron-seeks-drilling-ship-expand-east-med-gas-search-2023-04-18\/\" style=\"\">reportedly looking<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\"> for a drilling vessel to explore for more <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">natural gas off Cyprus, Egypt, and Israel<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> to help fulfill increasing demand for energy in Europe and the region. The company reportedly issued a tender to lease the vessel starting in 2024. The move comes as the company is working to exploit Cyprus\u2019 Aphrodite field with its partners Shell and Israel\u2019s NewMed Energy, with plans to export much of that gas to Egypt for liquefaction. Chevron and Eni also announced a significant discovery in the eastern Mediterranean in January. The gas deposit has been said to hold 3.5 ton cubic feet of natural gas though we\u2019re still waiting on the companies and the Oil Ministry to confirm its size.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700;\">M&amp;A WATCH- <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">#1- <\/span><span style=\"-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;font-weight:700;text-decoration-skip-ink:none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.egytrans.com\/\" style=\"\">Egytrans\u2019<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\"> board of directors <\/span><span style=\"-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;font-weight:700;text-decoration-skip-ink:none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/20e8aa46-1dff-4218-a7d3-991566826a26\" style=\"\">approved<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">the acquisition of trucking firm the National <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Transport and Overseas Services Company (NOSCO)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, which would see the company acquire 99.9% of NOSCO\u2019s shares via a share swap and would value NOSCO at around EGP 174.1 mn, according to our math. The acquisition has been in the works since at least October, when Egytrans the two were exploring a share swap arrangement. Which means you have to find one of only six service stores in the whole country, book an appointment then live without said device for 3-5 business days while they repair it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">That\u2019s right, dear reader, you read that correctly. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">There are a total of six Tradeline and Switch Plus service stores in all of Egypt<\/span><span>.<\/span><span> There\u2019s<\/span><span> Switch Plus\u2019 <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/g.page\/Switchplus-dokki?share\" style=\"\">Mohandessin<\/a><\/span><span>, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/EdPSJWc8Njd14awe6\" style=\"\">Degla<\/a><\/span><span>, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2KKLz48\" style=\"\">Smouha<\/a><\/span><span>, or <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/g.page\/switchplus-downtown?share\/\" style=\"\">Downtown Mall<\/a><\/span><span> branches for repairs, or Tradeline\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/qH4KtUK222WnYZCf8\" style=\"\">Concord Mall<\/a><\/span><span>, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/TbWzExrxsWx9yY636\" style=\"\">City Stars<\/a><\/span><span>, or <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/pxP2uwgBExy6ojRq8\" style=\"\">Mall of Arabia<\/a><\/span><span> service stores<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The more widely available and cheaper option<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\"> is the plethora of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">non-authorized Apple repair services.<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifixegy.com\/\" style=\"\">iFix<\/a><\/span><span>, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/salsapeel.com\/\" style=\"\">Salsapeel<\/a><\/span><span>, and <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/irepairegypt.com\/\" style=\"\">iRepair<\/a><\/span><span> are among the most trusted among iSheep and sales reps we\u2019ve spoken to<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">A house favorite is <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;font-weight:700;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/salsapeel.com\/\" style=\"\">Salsapeel<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">\u2014  a very cloak-and-dagger operation that charges premium-adjacent prices. A number of us at Enterprise have tried their fixes and were very happy with the speed and quality of the repair. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">And these come with some added benefits: <\/span><span> iFix will come where you are and fix it on the spot with what they claim <\/span><span>are genuine Apple parts. It takes a maximum of 20 minutes, according to their pages. Not only do they assert that the parts they use are genuine Apple components and not just high-quality copies, they back it up by offering you generous warranties.<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/iRepairEgypt\/about\" style=\"\">iRepair<\/a><\/span><span>, for instance, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">provides a 12-month warranty on most of its spare parts, and is one of the least expensive repair services we\u2019ve seen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">LET\u2019S TALK NUMBERS-<\/span><span> We called up a few stores to find out what to expect if we needed to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">fix one of our Apple products. Here\u2019s what we found out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">iPHONES-<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\"> authorized reseller route: <\/span><span>A<\/span><span> screen change Switch Plus or Tradeline will <\/span><span>cost you a minimum of<\/span><span> EGP 14.3k and take 3-5 business days, depending on the model of your phone<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">. Changing your phone battery costs less, with a cool EGP 3.7k at Tradeline and EGP 3.9k at Switch Plus. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The cheaper alternative: <\/span><span>iFix claims to change iPhone screens for almost half <\/span><span>the price listed above, at EGP 8k. <\/span><span>Getting your phone a new screen from Salsapeel will cost you EGP 10.5k, or EGP 8k if you\u2019re willing to downgrade from genuine components to a high-copy. iFix charges EGP 1.6k for a battery change \u2014 which they say takes 20 minutes \u2014 and a six-month warranty. Both iRepair and Salsapeel charge an additional 1k for the same repair, claiming that genuine batteries aren\u2019t available on the market and that theirs is the next best thing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700;\">MACBOOKS- <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Macbooks are a little trickier. <\/span><span>A representative at Tradeline explained that macbook repairs <\/span><span>are priced on a case-by-case basis, which is why you have to visit the store for an assessment first. The same goes for Switch Plus. The price will also depend on <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">the FX rate, according to the sales rep, who explained that because authentic Apple components are shipped from abroad on a custom order basis, how much it\u2019ll cost you is contingent on how much the USD runs for on the day it arrives in Egypt. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Prices at authorized sellers have us wishing they made kevlar Macbook covers:<\/span><span>Macbook screen changes will cost you <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">upwards of EGP 30k, or approximately 2.83 kidneys. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">What about the unauthorized folks? <\/span><span>Macbook screens unfortunately lie <\/span><span>outside of iFix\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">scope, but Salsapeel will charge 24k to come to your rescue. iRepair once again charges the least of the pack, with a screen change setting you back EGP 14k and  it comes with a (you guessed it) six-month warranty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700;\">OTHER APPLE PRODUCTS-<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">There\u2019s no fixing a broken<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\"> iPad screen or Apple Watch at the authorized reseller:<\/span><span>If <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">the screen or the battery get busted, authorized resellers in Egypt cannot repair them. But they can switch them out if  without charge they\u2019re still under warranty. If your warranty has expired, you can get it replaced for just 90% of the price, which comes down to a measly EGP 33.6k for the iPad Pro 11 and EGP 13.6k for a Series 7 Apple Watch. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Naturally, the alternative route is cheaper:<\/span><span> Salsapeel and get your <\/span><span>iPad screen<\/span><span> fixed for EGP 20k. With that in mind, we dipped into grandma\u2019s recipe to make a whopping 135 biscuits, which should be enough to tie us over until the 6 October holiday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Ingredients:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">1kg (or 8 cups) of all-purpose flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">65g (or half a cup) of powdered sugar, setting extra aside for coating<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">40g (or one fourth of a cup) toasted sesame seeds (optional)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">6g (or one and a half teaspoons) of baking powder<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">1 teaspoon instant yeast (optional), or one piece of brewer\u2019s yeast<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">An eighth of a teaspoon of salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">10g (or one tablespoon) of Reehit Kahk (Kahk Essence)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">1g vanilla powder (or a quarter teaspoon of vanilla extract)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">568g (or two and a half cups) of ghee or clarified butter, brought to a boil<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">160g (or two thirds of a cup) of milk at room temperature<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Instructions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Adjust the oven rack to middle position and preheat the oven to 160\u00b0C.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">In a bowl, whisk together the flour, powdered sugar, sesame seeds (if using), baking powder, instant yeast (if using), salt, Kahk Essence and vanilla powder until well combined.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Add the ghee and mix until well-blended and the dry ingredients are evenly coated. Continue mixing until the dough turns creamy and paste-like.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Gradually pour in the milk. Continue mixing until the dough comes together. To test if the dough is mixed enough, roll a medium-sized piece of dough between your hands, then gently press on it. If the dough cracks, knead the dough for a few more seconds, then repeat the test. Do not overmix.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Using a measuring tablespoon, scoop out the dough and place on a baking sheet. You should have approximately 135 scoops.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Roll the dough into a smooth ball, making sure there are no cracks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Arrange the dough balls onto a silicon mat or parchment paper on the baking sheet, leaving knuckle-sized space between each one.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Press lightly on the dough with a Kahk stamper or decorate with authentic Kahk shaping tools (mon'ash).
