F<\/strong>ormer Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Cooperation <\/strong>Ziad Bahaa-Eldin<\/strong> (<\/strong>Linkedin<\/a><\/strong>) is jo<\/strong>ining <\/strong>Adsero - Ragy Soliman & Partners<\/a><\/strong> as senior partner and head of its newly minted Financial Regulatory and Capital Markets department, the law firm said in a press release (pdf)<\/a>. Bahaa-Eldin brings significant regulatory experience to the role, having written the playbook for the state\u2019s economic legislation during his tenures as the executive chairman of both the Financial Regulatory Authority and the General Authority for Investment and Freezones, alongside board stints at the Central Bank of Egypt and the National Bank of Egypt. He assumes the role on 1 July.<\/p>\n

And he\u2019s bringing backup:<\/strong> Bahaa-Eldin will be joined by new partner Mohamed El Ehwany (Linkedin<\/a>), who holds extensive expertise advising on projects in finance and cross-border M&A. Counsel Rana Elkahwagy (Linkedin<\/a>) also joins the department, specializing in antitrust, corporate law, and regulatory compliance.<\/p>\n

Rania Al Mashat at the UN<\/p>\n

Rania Al Mashat assumed her role as UN under-secretary-general<\/strong> and executive secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) after taking the oath of office before UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres yesterday<\/a>. Al Mashat, Egypt\u2019s former international cooperation and planning minister, who was appointed to the post in April<\/a>, brings 25 years of experience in economic policy and development finance, including roles at the IMF, the Central Bank of Egypt, and Egypt\u2019s cabinet.
