THE BIG STORY TODAY-<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udccd The EGX will launch futures contracts on shares of the <\/strong>Commercial International Bank (CIB) and Talaat Mostafa Group Holding (TMG)<\/strong>, starting Thursday, 18 June, according to a statement<\/a> by the bourse. The new contracts will feature maturities of three and six months with a standard contract size of 100 shares.<\/p>\n

Why this matters: <\/strong>The EGX launched its first-ever derivatives products in March<\/a>, starting with index futures on the EGX30. The addition of single-stock futures on CIB and TMG, two of the bourse's most liquid names, is the next step in a phased rollout that will eventually include EGX70 derivatives and options. \u201cDerivatives can bring in a more sophisticated investor base, and that\u2019s the big strategic [achievement],\u201d Evolve Investment Holding CEO Sameh Al Torgman previously told EnterpriseAM.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf10 Still leading the news cycle is the exchange of hostilities between Israel and <\/strong>Iran. <\/strong>Regional officials are reportedly engaged in a fresh round of diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing the situation from spiraling further. The traded strikes mark the first exchange of fire since the 8 April ceasefire.<\/p>\n

Across the pond, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer urged all sides to return to the negotiating table.<\/strong> Starmer said he was \u201cdeeply concerned\u201d by the renewed violence, warning the conflict\u2019s repercussions are being felt far beyond the Middle East. Oil prices jumped on the news, with Brent crude up to USD 94.6 \/ bbl and WTI at USD 92 \/ bbl at the time of publication. <\/p>\n
