THE BIG STORY ABROAD-<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf10 Russia unleashed a sweeping overnight assault on Kyiv and other cities earlier this morning<\/strong> \u2014 one of its largest aerial attacks on Ukraine in recent months \u2014 leaving at least 18 people dead and more than 100 wounded. According to Ukraine\u2019s military, the attack involved over 600 drones and dozens of missiles, including advanced hypersonic weapons.<\/p>\n

The strikes took a heavy toll on civilian infrastructure<\/strong>, with the Health Ministry reporting that five medical facilities were damaged or destroyed, while in the capital, the barrage ripped through residential and commercial districts, damaging multiple buildings, setting off fires, and leaving burned-out vehicles in its wake.<\/p>\n

CLOSER TO HOME- <\/strong>Israeli drone strikes killed eight people in southern Lebanon just a day after US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to ease hostilities, underscoring the fragility of the latest de-escalation efforts.<\/p>\n

Tensions already surged yesterday after Israel threatened strikes on Beirut\u2019s southern suburbs<\/strong>, triggering panic across the Lebanese capital, while Hezbollah responded with rocket fire into northern Israel. Later that day, Trump said that, following a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and indirect communication with Hezbollah through mediators, assurances had been given that \u201cthere will be no troops going to Beirut.\u201d<\/p>\n
