The man who showed us how to buy cars and plenty of <\/strong>other things on <\/strong>credit is setting out to<\/strong> build something new.<\/strong> Hazem Moussa (LinkedIn<\/a>) is stepping down as chairman of Contact Financial Holding after a 25-year run that saw him build Egypt\u2019s consumer finance industry from the ground up, according to a company statement<\/a>(pdf)<\/a>. Moussa, who co-founded the firm in 2001, was Contact\u2019s managing director from launch to 2016 and then as CEO from 2016 to 2020 before taking on the chairman\u2019s post. <\/p>\n

Widely credited with inventing the playbook for consumer credit and<\/strong> securitization in Egypt<\/strong>, Moussa worked directly with the government and the FRA to draft the frameworks that now govern the industry. His exit marks the final stage of a multi-year leadership transition at Contact, which saw John Saad take the CEO reins<\/a> from longtime chief Said Zater last year.<\/p>\n

Industry Minister Khaled Hashem appointed Mohamed Zada (<\/strong>LinkedIn<\/a><\/strong>) as<\/strong> assistant minister for strategic industries<\/strong>, according to a ministry statement<\/a>.
