THE BIG STORY ABROAD-<\/p>\n

We live in a crazy world<\/strong>,\u201d US President Donald Trump said in an interview following the shooting at the White House correspondents\u2019 dinner yesterday, which continues to dominate front pages. Beyond DC, these are some of the stories that have caught our attention:<\/p>\n

US-Iran negotiations have stalled after Trump called off the trip to Pakistan on Saturday<\/strong>, as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi heads to Russia for talks with Vladimir Putin. Araghchi blames the US for the breakdown in talks and seeks diplomatic support from Moscow to end the war.<\/p>\n

As talks faltered, oil prices edged higher<\/strong>, with Brent exceeding USD 107 per barrel this morning, before settling at USD 106 at the time of publication. Meanwhile, Axios reports that Iran offered a new proposal to the US for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and postponing nuclear talks.<\/p>\n

IN THE BUSINESS PRESS-<\/strong> China blocked Meta\u2019s USD 2 bn acquisition of AI app Manus \u2014 a Singaporean startup with Chinese roots. The decision came amid scrutiny from both Beijing and Washington over plans to move business offshore. The acquisition has been under investigation since January by Chinese regulators over violating Beijing investment rules. <\/p>\n
