Nokia<\/strong> plans to set up a regional technical hub in Egypt to act as its <\/strong>centralized operatio<\/strong>nal center for the<\/strong> Middle East and Africa<\/strong>, according to a statement (pdf)<\/a> from the company and another statement<\/a> from the cabinet. Building on a 2024 agreement with Itida and Telecom Egypt, the move targets the country\u2019s and the region\u2019s growing demand for 5G network management and cloud infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Marakez<\/strong>, the develop<\/strong>er behind East Cairo\u2019s District 5,<\/strong> secured a EGP 5.5 bn <\/strong>loan from QNB Egypt <\/strong>to \u201csupport part of the investment costs associated with the residential and commercial expansions of the District 5 project,\u201d according to a press release (pdf)<\/a>. This brings the developer\u2019s recent financing to EGP 8.5 bn, after securing the EGP 3 bn credit facility from Kuwait Finance House Egypt for its business campus earlier this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

EGAC is now an EU-recognized carbon-footprint verifier<\/p>\n

Expo<\/strong>rters<\/strong> eyeing Europe can now have their carbon footprints verified at <\/strong>home<\/strong>, after the European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA) started recognizing the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) as a carbon footprint verifier, according to a statement<\/a> from the Industry Ministry.<\/p>\n

Why this matters: <\/strong>The move is a crucial step toward helping local manufacturers comply with the EU\u2019s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
