FRA taps Islam Abdel Azim Azzam as its new head<\/p>\n

Islam <\/strong>Azzam (<\/strong>LinkedIn<\/a><\/strong>) has been appointed as acting chair of the <\/strong>Financial Regulatory Authority<\/strong> (FRA) under a presidential decree, the authority announced<\/a> yesterday. Mohamed Farid previously held the position for four years before going on to head the Investment Ministry after the latest cabinet shuffle<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Getting to know Azzam: <\/strong>Azzam most recently served as EGX chairman<\/a> in 2H 2025 and as vice chairman of the FRA between 2021 and 2025. He is also an associate professor of finance at the American University in Cairo, and has previously headed the university\u2019s department of graduate studies in finance. He also spent some time at a number of local and international institutions, including London School of Economics.<\/p>\n
