However, the Central Bank of Egypt and the Finance Ministry are refusing to let borrowing costs spiral out of control, we\u2019re told.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>The big picture:<\/strong> The country isn\u2019t facing this crisis with an empty wallet. We currently have a solid cushion of FX reserves, bolstered by pre-crisis remittances, the Alam El Roum project, and recent IMF disbursements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>Moving forward:<\/strong> The central bank shouldn\u2019t burn through these reserves just to stubbornly defend a specific exchange rate, Metwally argues.
