\ud83c\udf6e For<\/strong> years and years, Ramadan desserts were something you could <\/strong>count on <\/strong>to stay the same.<\/strong> You had your basbousas, kunafas, and Sawabea\u2019 Zainab \u2014 sizes and syrups varied from one patisserie to another while the core concept remained the same. <\/p>\n

Sometime around the late 2000s, that began to change.<\/strong> \u201cIt happened around 2010, and then it just kept getting bigger and bigger ever since,\u201d Sal\u00e9 Sucr\u00e9 General Manager Ziad El Ramlawy (LinkedIn<\/a>) tells EnterpriseAM. \u201c[Ramadan] desserts have gotten crazier, but people have definitely adapted \u2014 I think people had been wanting to try different things,\u201d he adds. <\/p>\n

Since then, the conversation surrounding desserts became a pivotal aspect of Ramadan. <\/strong>We've borne witness to the Nutella craze, which then made way for the Lotus revolution, ultimately leading to 2025\u2019s Dubai chocolate-pistachio uprising. \u201cOur Kunafa Mango is what really changed the way we crafted products. It was the first time we mixed traditional Oriental flavors with ingredients we\u2019re not used to seeing in them,\u201d El Ramlawy says. When Ramadan moved out of the mango season, experiments alchemizing Oriental and Western desserts ensued. <\/p>\n

While we\u2019d expect Cairo\u2019s patisseries to take it easy on the Hulk-green sauce this year, we\u2019re still looking forward to a slew of creative \u201ceftekasat\u201d <\/strong>\u2014 as we Egyptians like to call them \u2014 that will undoubtedly be making the rounds. What obscure pistachio-adjacent ingredient will be the star of Ramadan 2026? It remains unclear \u2014 but what\u2019s clear is this: the classics are in for a makeover.<\/p>\n

The Ramadan concoctions on our radar thus far<\/p>\n

Some patisseries have begun flaunting their seasonal creations, with others choosing to hold off on their grand reveals.<\/strong> Of the more creative desserts that we\u2019ve come across thus far, these have caught our attention:<\/p>\n
