\ud83d\udcfa Set in the \u201870s and \u201880s in Istanbul, <\/strong>The Museum of Innocence<\/a><\/strong> is a nine-episode <\/strong>Turkish series based on Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk\u2019s <\/strong>2008 hit eponymous novel<\/a><\/strong>.<\/strong> The series chronicles the lives of a wealthy, older \u201cgentleman\u201d and his younger, poorer relative as they find themselves entangled in an affair that would see both their lives utterly upended. <\/p>\n

Kemal (Selahattin Pa\u015fal\u0131) has it all \u2014 a successful business, the perfect fianc\u00e9e, dashing looks. <\/strong>When he comes across a shopgirl, Fu\u015fun (Eyl\u00fcl Kandemir) \u2014 who happens to be a distant relative \u2014 he becomes obsessed with her. A full-fledged love affair takes root, just weeks before Kemal\u2019s engagement party to Sibel (Oya Unustas\u0131), leaving him in a precarious situation. The series hops back and forth in timelines to decades later, where we are introduced to Kemal\u2019s \u201cmuseum of innocence,\u201d where the affair is immortalized in physical memorabilia. <\/p>\n

The show is daring, shocking, and fresh. <\/strong>A sense of mystery prevails, keeping us on the edge of our seats, with morally gray characters. Infidelity, gender roles, and class struggles are all put under the spotlight, and the show does an incredible job of encouraging the viewer to draw their own conclusions and judgments. The soundtrack adds depth, and the entire cast \u2014 bar none \u2014 delivers noteworthy performances. Although it\u2019s available in English dubbing, we\u2019d recommend watching the show in its original Turkish, so nothing gets lost in translation.<\/p>\n
