Kemet powers ahead with 4.7 GW renewable push in Upper Egypt<\/p>\n

United Egypt Group\u2019s industrial arm Kemet will add 4.7 GW of new <\/strong>renewable<\/strong> capacity through four major projects across the Bahariya Oasis and Nagaa Hammadi<\/strong>, according to a cabinet statement<\/a>. Slated for 2027 operations, the rollout includes two solar plants in Bahariya Oasis (320 MW and 400 MW) and a massive 2 GW solar plant in Nagaa Hammadi paired with a 2 GWh independent battery energy storage system.<\/p>\n

Why it matters:<\/strong> The move is another step toward the state\u2019s 42% renewable energy target<\/a> by 2030 and includes one of the region\u2019s largest independent battery storage facilities. The storage component is critical for grid stability, allowing the national grid to manage the intermittent nature of solar power. <\/p>\n

Bonyan locks in new tenant, eyes revenue upside<\/p>\n

Bonyan is on a leasing streak, inking a five-year lease with Hassan Allam\u2019s<\/strong> Kortech for Building 106B in Nasr City<\/strong>, shortly after signing Nestl\u00e9 Egypt at Golden Gate Building A5<\/a>, it said in a statement<\/a>(pdf)<\/a>. The new tenant is set to move in this May, after the expiry of a legacy lease with B.Tech, giving Bonyan room to reset rents in line with current market levels.<\/p>\n

Why it matters:<\/strong> Bonyan plans to reprice 15.2k sqm of EGP-denominated contracts up for renewal this year, equivalent to around 42% of its total EGP office rental income. By phasing out older contracts with sub-market rents and replacing them with new agreements at prevailing rates, the company is turning renewals into a built-in hedge against inflation and currency risk.<\/p>\n

Edita\u2019s distribution arm aims to turn its fleet electric<\/p>\n

Edita <\/strong>Trade & Distribution \u2014 a subsidiary of Edita Food Industries \u2014 <\/strong>partnered with local EV startup Shift EV to electrify its nationwide distribution fleet<\/strong>, according to a statement (pdf)<\/a>. The move aims to boost operational efficiency, cut down on fuel consumption, and create cost savings.<\/p>\n
