Could Trump hold the key to resolving the GERD dispute? <\/strong>US President Donald Trump said he is \u201cready to restart US mediation between \u2060Egypt \u200dand Ethiopia to responsibly resolve the \u2060question of \u2018The Nile Water Sharing\u2019 once \u200cand for all\u201d in a letter sent to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Trump posted the letter on his Truth Social platform<\/a>. He proposed a framework that would guarantee predictable water releases during droughts for downstream Egypt and Sudan, while allowing Ethiopia to generate electricity \u2014 some of which could be \u201cgiven, or sold\u201d to its neighbors.<\/p>\n
