Industry insiders we spoke to don\u2019t think it\u2019s a paradigm shift just yet, but there are big changes afoot in market dynamics. <\/p>\n

MEANWHILE-<\/strong> As policymakers look to address mounting pressure on state finances, the Madbouly Cabinet gave the Finance Ministry the all-clear to begin talks to swap outstanding debt for investment<\/strong>. The ministry is separately doubling the threshold for transfer pricing compliance<\/strong> to EGP 30 mn in a move that is expected to reduce red tape for SMEs. <\/p>\n

<\/a> INDUS<\/strong>TRY: <\/strong>Egypt<\/strong> and Tanzania are looking at setting up reciprocal logistics zones in each of the <\/strong>two countries<\/strong>, according to a statement<\/a> from the Industry Ministry. The potential project would bring a Tanzanian logistics zone in Egypt and vice versa, and would be modeled after a similar agreement with Rwanda<\/a>, the statement says. <\/p>\n

Sign of the times<\/p>\n

<\/a> It\u2019s official: The London era for Egyptian family offices is ending. <\/strong>Mansour Group and Man Capital Chairman Mohamed Mansour is returning to Egypt, ending his residency in the UK after having called London home since at least 2016, Bloomberg<\/a> reports. Where Man Capital relocates to, though, is still an open question.<\/p>\n

Mansour\u2019s departure comes despite his position in the country\u2019s <\/strong>political and business establishment<\/strong>, having served as the Conservative Party\u2019s senior treasurer and even receiving a knighthood. <\/p>\n

Outside of the Gulf, London has for decades been the undisputed second home <\/strong>for <\/strong>Egyptian<\/strong> capital \u2014 that era died this week. <\/strong>The departure of the world\u2019s third-richest Egyptian follows the departure of its first, Nassef Sawiris, who moved his NNS family office to Abu Dhabi in 2023, along with many other wealthy residents.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s at play: <\/strong>Tax rises and reforms on wealthy individuals from abroad, more fiscally conservative pundits allege.<\/p>\n

Data point<\/p>\n

A two-year high of 124 \u2014 that\u2019s the number of oil and gas rigs in operation in October<\/strong>, according to Oil Ministry data compiled by Middle<\/a>East Economic Survey<\/a>. An uptick in drilling activity seems to show that the state\u2019s push to pay down arrears and improve terms for energy players may be having the desired effect.<\/p>\n

But, an uptick in drilling activity is yet to hit the pipeline<\/strong>, with both oil and gas output down in October from September, albeit marginally.<\/p>\n

Happening Tomorrow <\/p>\n

<\/a> The P<\/strong>haraohs are set to <\/strong>play against Zimbabwe<\/a><\/strong> in their opening match of the 2025<\/strong> Africa Cup of Nations tomorrow in Morocco\u2019s Stade Adrar in Agadir<\/strong>, marking the start of Egypt\u2019s Group B campaign. <\/p>\n

Oil markets are once again in watch-and-see mode after the US seized yet another oil <\/strong>tanker off the coast of Venezuela<\/strong>, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed overnight<\/a>. The Panamanian-flagged vessel is the second tanker near Venezuela that the US has gone after this month, with US President Donald Trump ordering a \u201ctotal and complete blockade\u201d of all sanctioned oil tankers going into and out of Venezuela.
