Chinese renewables firm Sungrow has broken ground on its battery storage <\/strong>factory<\/strong>, Electricity Minister Mahmoud Esmat told Asharq Business<\/a>. The USD 120 mn first phase of the project will have a production capacity of 2 GW, the minister said. The government will carry out the infrastructure and logistical works for the plant. <\/p>\n

We had an idea this was coming: <\/strong>Last month, company representatives met with President<\/a>Abdel Fattah El Sisi<\/a>, where they discussed setting up a battery storage factory with an annual capacity of 10 GW. <\/p>\n

REMEMBER- <\/strong>The government aims to have its renewable energy capacity reach 10 GW<\/a> alongside 2.85 GW in battery storage by the end of 2025. <\/p>\n

Why it matters: <\/strong>Battery storage projects will play a critical role in stabilizing Egypt\u2019s power grid, ensuring supply reliability, and improving flexibility across the unified grid. <\/p>\n
