? <\/strong>Wh<\/strong>e<\/strong>n it comes to burger spots, they\u2019re a dime a dozen<\/strong>. Almost every single restaurant you might walk into in Greater Cairo knows how to fire up a grill and dish one out \u2014 even if the cuisine on the tin is as far as can be from the American classic. Yet when it comes to dedicated establishments on a quest to perfect gourmet burgers, you\u2019ll come to find that your options quickly dwindle. This week, our quest to find the perfect patty led us to BTB<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Don\u2019t judge a book by its cover, or a burger spot by its seating arrangements.<\/strong> While the self-service and classic caf\u00e9teria style tables and chairs may be off-putting if you were planning to linger, the food more than makes up for the discounted comfort. With a curated menu<\/a> of in-house specials, BTB follows a \u201cless is more\u201d approach. You\u2019ll find just a few beef variations, three chicken burgers, and a lonesome veggie option. But this is the mark of an eatery that knows how to hone the quality of their offerings.<\/p>\n

A quick look at the menu, and we made our way to the cashier station<\/strong>. We picked a double patty truffle burger, a double patty \u201cfrickin\u2019\u201d \u2014 a truffle burger with caramelised onion jam, American cheese, and bacon \u2014 curly fries, and hot mess fries, which come with chilli.<\/p>\n

As one naturally does, we started with the fries<\/strong>. The hot mess fries were a hit, crispy and refusing to give into the sogginess, and the curly fries were equally enjoyable. When it came time to try the burgers, we were initially disappointed by the portion size. Each could comfortably fit inside the palms of our hands, but we pushed through. The flavor more than made up for the physical measurements, and the burgers \u2014 particularly the signature frickin\u2019 \u2014 carried the right balance of sauce, salt, and sizzle.<\/p>\n

Go hungry, but don\u2019t go famished<\/strong>. While BTB\u2019s burgers proved worthy of gourmet status, the portion size may remain a dealbreaker for many-a-hungry Cairenes, especially when the pricing is taken into consideration. A single patty will set you back an average of EGP 220, with a double patty averaging around EGP 300. If you\u2019re looking for a quick, flavorsome bite on the go, we\u2019d definitely recommend BTB.
