The sources stressed that the 1.2 mn LPG distributed daily by the government are sold at less than 30% of their actual cost, excluding distribution and transportation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>It looks like diesel will also be spared the planned price hikes next month \u2014 again in <\/strong><strong>the interests of keeping inflation at bay. <\/strong>A government source told us late last week that diesel may <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/58d56e75-e34c-4634-a9eb-1542718b63f5\/fuel-price-hike-could-be-days-away\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">also be excluded<\/a> from the coming hike, with other petroleum products shouldering a larger portion of the increase. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The government is also thinking about converting its vehicles to run on natural gas in <\/strong><strong>the interests of slimming expenses. <\/strong>Authorities are now surveying all vehicles owned by government entities to convert them fully to natural gas, which is cheaper than gasoline or diesel, to reduce fuel expenses across the state apparatus, another source told us.
