THE BIG STORY TODAY-<\/p>\n

The Oil Ministry is looking to attract USD 4 bn this fiscal year with the offering <\/strong>of up to 12 concessions<\/strong>, a government source told EnterpriseAM. The planned exploration tenders will coincide with the wrapping up of seismic surveys in the Mediterranean, Red Sea, and Gulf of Suez, we were told.<\/p>\n

The upcoming tender may see a notable uptick in interest from local energy players<\/strong>, following an in-the-works government push<\/a> \u2014 which could include fresh incentives for local investors \u2014 to increase local investment in the oil and gas sector, a government source told EnterpriseAM in August. The tender will include new fields and fresh exploration areas \u2014 including blocks being offered for the first time \u2014 as well as mature fields slated to be put back on the market, the source told us at the time.<\/p>\n

REMEMBER- <\/strong>The planned offerings, which include several concessions in the Red Sea, follow Shell and its partners\u2019 withdrawal from their two Egyptian Red Sea exploration blocks in March<\/a> of this year, followed by Chevron\u2019s exit in April<\/a> from its block \u2014 the last active exploration block in the Red Sea.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s<\/strong> another busy afternoon in the global press, led by the aftermath of several <\/strong>states recognizing Palestine <\/strong>ahead of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly. Yesterday saw Canada, Australia, the UK, and Portugal formally recognize Palestine\u2019s statehood, with other states \u2014 mainly France \u2014 expected to follow suit over the coming days.<\/p>\n

While the recognition \u2014 both achieved and forthcoming \u2014 is largely symbolic, Israel\u2019s <\/strong>response has raised international concern.<\/strong> In a statement published<\/a> on X by Israel\u2019s Foreign Ministry, the occupying force noted it would not \u201caccept any detached and imaginary text that attempts to force it to accept indefensible borders.\u201d Furthermore, several Israeli ministers have called for the annexation of the West Bank, the Financial Times reports<\/a>. \u201c[The international community] will hear from us on this matter in the following days,\u201d Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Several European officials were quick to issue their own statements<\/strong>, warning<\/a> Israel against annexing parts of the occupied West Bank in retaliation. \"We have been clear that this decision that we are taking is about the best way to respect the security for Israel as well as the security for Palestinians,\u201d UK\u2019s Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said in an interview<\/a> with the BBC. <\/p>\n

MEANWHILE- A catastrophic super typhoon \u2014 reportedly the most powerful storm on <\/strong>Earth in 2025 \u2014 has hit the northern Philippines<\/strong>, leaving thousands of residents stranded amid evacuations. Typhoon Ragasa made landfall with winds comparable to those of a category five hurricane, according to the Philippines\u2019 meteorological agency.
