M&A WATCH-<\/p>\n

Orascom Investment Holding (OIH) finalized its EGP 502 mn acquisition of <\/strong>Misr for Entertainment Investments<\/strong>, giving it 100% ownership of the company, it announced in a statement<\/a>. ADSERO \u2013 Ragy Soliman & Partners acted as counsel on the transaction.<\/p>\n

The portfolio:<\/strong> OIH will also own Misr for Entertainment Investments\u2019 subsidiaries, which include the Egyptian Company for Nutrition & Services (Abela Misr), Pier 88 Cairo for Touristic Restaurants, Pier 88 Touristic Establishments, Misr for Touristic Establishments, and Abela Train Services Misr.<\/p>\n

REMEMBER- <\/strong>OIH\u2019s general assembly approved<\/a> the acquisition in July, which had been in the<\/a>works<\/a> since last year, when the company\u2019s non-executive expert directors and independent directors approved the acquisition in principle.<\/p>\n

\n

MANUFACTURING-<\/p>\n

China\u2019s Haiyan Ximei will invest USD 10 mn to develop a project to manufacture <\/strong>packaging and printing materials for clothes<\/strong>, according to a statement<\/a> from the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The factory in the Qantara West Industrial Zone will create 160 direct jobs and earmark 70% of production for export<\/p>\n

\n

LOGISTICS-<\/p>\n

Canadian logistics service company IMGS Group and Chinese agriculture and food <\/strong>solutions provider Famsun are mulling opening a global food logistics center<\/strong>, according to a Suez Canal Authority statement<\/a>. The project in partnership with the authority would be situated in Port Fouad and support the country\u2019s food security. A cooperation protocol to begin developing the project will soon be signed, according to the statement.<\/p>\n

\n

HOSPITALITY-<\/p>\n

Local real estate leader Mountain View launched its hospitality arm Mountain View <\/strong>Hospitality<\/strong>, the company said in a statement (pdf)<\/a>. The launch of the independent company coincided with the launch of Mountain View\u2019s KIN Hotel on the North Coast \u2014 a first for the developer.<\/p>\n

What they said:<\/strong> \u201cThe launch of Mountain View Hospitality represents a strategic step that reflects our vision and effective contribution to driving the Egyptian economy. We are not just establishing a new company, but rather investing in a giant sector whose value exceeded USD 20 bn in 2025 and is expected to rise to more than USD 28 bn by 2030,\u201d said Mountain View Chairman Amr Soliman.<\/p>\n

EXPANSIONS-<\/p>\n

#1- Elsewedy Electric\u2019s Elsewedy Electric Power Systems Projects laid the <\/strong>foundation for <\/strong>its combined cycle gas turbine unit in Hungary<\/strong>, the company said in a statement (pdf)<\/a>. The 520 MW hydrogen-ready unit will be the country\u2019s largest combined cycle gas turbine when it is completed in 2028. <\/p>\n

Elsewedy Electric <\/strong>will deliver 50% of the engineering works and supplies needed<\/a><\/strong> for the <\/strong>EUR 700 mn project. <\/strong>The project marks Elsewedy Electric\u2019s first venture in Europe.<\/p>\n

What they said:<\/strong>\u201cOur journey in Hungary represents far more than the construction of a power plant \u2014 it is a commitment to enabling sustainable energy transitions around the globe,\u201d said Elwewedy Electric CEO Ahmed Elsewedy.<\/p>\n

\n

#2- State-owned Petrojet has secured a SAR 600 mn (USD 160 mn) contract for <\/strong>infrastructure works at the King Saud Air Base in Saudi Arabia<\/strong>, Asharq Business<\/a> reports, citing an unnamed official. The work includes connections, protection networks, and linking drainage and water lines for a power station.<\/p>\n

\n

DEVELOPMENT FINANCE-<\/p>\n

Egypt is among 13 countries in line for USD 634 mn in green financing from <\/strong>the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development<\/strong>, the lender said in a statement<\/a>. Jordan and Morocco are also getting a piece of the funds under the newly-launched Greening Financial Systems: Delivering Climate Finance for All program.<\/p>\n

\n

DIPLOMACY-<\/p>\n

#1- Egypt praised the UN General Assembly's <\/strong>vote<\/a><\/strong> to agree to steps toward a <\/strong>two-state <\/strong>solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict<\/strong>, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement<\/a>. The votes in support of the motion from 142 nations shows \u201ccompelling evidence of the widespread international support for legitimate Palestinian rights,\u201d according to the statement. The only nations to vote against the resolutions were the US, Israel, Argentina, Hungary, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Tonga, Micronesia, Nauru, and Palau \u2014 representing just 5.2% of the world\u2019s population by our math.<\/p>\n

\n

#2- Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the US issued a Sudan peace plan<\/strong>, which followed weeks of negotiations between the four countries \u2014 that have all had long-standing differences on the issue \u2014 according to a joint statement<\/a>. The four countries called for an initial three-month truce, followed by a permanent ceasefire and nine-month transitional process to develop an independent civilian government.<\/p>\n

#3- Eight agreements were signed during the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint High <\/strong>Committee last week<\/strong>, according to a statement<\/a>.
