Cairo facilitates agreement between Iran, IAEA:<\/strong> Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Cairo yesterday where they took part in negotiations with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Director Rafael Grossi that concluded with Tehran and the agency reaching an agreement, according to a statement<\/a> from the Foreign Ministry. <\/p>\n

The agreement sets the stage for the IAEA to resume inspections of Iranian nuclear <\/strong>facilities <\/strong>and restart cooperation \u2014 Grossi called<\/a> it a \u201cstep in the right direction that opens the door for diplomacy and stability.\u201d <\/p>\n

Araghchi and Grossi also <\/strong>met<\/a><\/strong> with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi<\/strong> ahead of inking the agreement. Both Araghchi<\/a> and Grossi voiced their gratitude for the Egyptian side for facilitating the agreement. <\/p>\n

EGYPT RESPONDS TO GERD\u2019S INAUGURATION- <\/p>\n

Egypt has sent a formal letter to the UN Security Council after Ethiopia officially <\/strong>inaugurated the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD)<\/strong>, calling the move \u201ca unilateral act in violation of international law, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement<\/a> yesterday. The letter also stressed that Egypt reserves the right to take the necessary measures permitted under international law and the UN Charter to protect its interests.<\/p>\n
