No electricity price hikes this month? <\/strong>Don\u2019t expect any increases in electricity prices this month, a senior government source told EnterpriseAM. The payoff of lowering inflation \u2014 and in turn allowing the central bank to continue cutting interest rates \u2014 outweighs the revenue from price hikes, the source said.<\/p>\n

Electricity price hikes could be pushed until the end of the year<\/strong>, subject to cabinet approval, we were told.<\/p>\n

The year-long delay \u2014 after two hikes last year \u2014 has pushed electricity subsidy <\/strong>costs to EGP 10 bn at the end of the last fiscal year<\/strong>, up from the EGP 2.5 bn originally budgeted, according to a government document seen by EnterpriseAM.<\/p>\n

A shooting at the Ramot Junction bus stop in Jerusalem left at least five dead and <\/strong>several injured earlier today<\/strong>, Israeli emergency services said. The two attackers were shot and killed by a security officer and an armed civilian. The incident is reportedly the \u201cdeadliest attack\u201d in the city since 2023. Hamas has not claimed responsibility for the shooting. (CNN<\/a> | BBC<\/a> | Reuters<\/a> | Guardian<\/a>)<\/p>\n

MEANWHILE-<\/strong> Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S\u00e1nchez publicly accused<\/a> Netanyahu of \u201cexterminating a defenseless people\u201d by bombing hospitals and inducing starvation in Gaza. \u201cIt\u2019s breaking all the rules of humanitarian law,\u201d the Spanish PM said. Despite S\u00e1nchez\u2019s searing comments, he noted that Spain would continue to support the state\u2019s \u201cright to exist.\u201d <\/p>\n

OVER IN PARIS-<\/strong> French Prime Minister Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou is counting the minutes leading up to the results of the confidence vote held this afternoon that might see him ousted. Bayrou has only held office for nine months, and if ousted, would be succeeded by the third PM to be appointed this year, and the fifth since Macron began his second term in office in 2022.
