In the early hours of an inconspicuous Wednesday, precisely at 2:17am, 17 children from the same class wake up. They promptly leave their homes and run through the streets of their small town with outstretched arms, before disappearing into the darkness. Their teacher, Justine (Julia Garner), is soon put under the spotlight as parents blame her for their children\u2019s disappearance. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The movie is divided into six chapters<\/strong>, each following the story of one of the town\u2019s residents before all paths intersect, leading to the final act. Cregger\u2019s division of the plot proves successful and ideal for the nature of the mystery at hand. The movie\u2019s sequence of events is both logical and thrilling, resulting in an engaging viewing experience. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Excellent performances all around<\/strong>. Garner, Austin Abrams, Alden Ehrenreich and Benedict Wong all deliver stellar performances \u2014 particularly Wong, who terrified viewers with an unexpected, chilling scene. Not to mention the movie\u2019s central character, who we\u2019ll let you discover for yourselves, lest we spoil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Despite a spine-chilling and intriguing premise that earns Weapons its spot among <\/strong><strong>our favorite horror movies<\/strong>, the movie deliberately fails to provide answers to viewers\u2019 questions, unlike <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/308210ef-a0ac-4d6a-89a4-374fce618f9a\/sally-hawkins-delivers-a-stellar-performance-in%253cmark%253e-bring-her-back%253c%2Fmark%253e\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Bring Her Back<\/a> \u2014 also currently screening. The presence of a motive and a reason behind the evil force at play adds a human dimension and paints a complete picture, which always fares better than a vague \u201cit\u2019s just evil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>\u2026Yet perhaps that\u2019s why <\/strong><strong>Weapons<\/strong> <strong>works<\/strong>. The movie lets audiences fill in the gaps, theorizing motives based on their own understanding. The ending was cause for much online speculation among cinephiles.
