THE BIG STORY TODAY-<\/p>\n

The fallout from <\/strong>yesterday\u2019s fire<\/a><\/strong> at the Ramses telecoms data center <\/strong>remains the talk of the town<\/strong> after the blaze claimed the lives of four Telecom Egypt employees<\/a> and injured 27 others. The incident has continued to disrupt telecoms and banking services across the country as of dispatch time, while ICT Minister Amr Talaat pledged telecom services would gradually return to normal within 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Mobile services remain spotty<\/strong>, depending on your location, your provider, and the network you\u2019re trying to reach.<\/p>\n

The EGX pulled the plug: <\/strong>The bourse called off today\u2019s trading session<\/a>, citing the need to \u201cprotect the interests of all parties and ensure a level playing field for market participants.\u201d <\/p>\n

Banking services are still facing disruptions: <\/strong>ATMs and banking services remain down or unstable at several lenders, four sources in the banking sector told EnterprisePM. Some banks have resumed operations by switching to emergency systems, the sources added. The Central Bank of Egypt responded by allowing banks to extend their operating hours<\/a> to 5pm \u2014 starting today until further notice \u2014 with each bank deciding which branches will implement the extended hours. It also temporarily doubled the daily withdrawal limit<\/a> to EGP 500k.<\/p>\n

Real estate registry and notary services were also disrupted<\/strong>, Shorouk News<\/a> reports, citing an unnamed source.<\/p>\n

Payments are gradually recovering: <\/strong>Services on digital payment platforms including Instapay, Vodafone Cash, and Fawry have mostly resumed in the recent hours.<\/p>\n

And airport operations are back to normal<\/strong>, with the Civil Aviation Ministry confirming<\/a> that all flights delayed yesterday due to telecoms disruptions have since departed.<\/p>\n

International data traffic remains unaffected<\/strong> \u2014 global routing infrastructure remains intact and international bandwidth is stable, Telecom Egypt CEO Mohamed Nasr told Asharq Business<\/a>.<\/p>\n
