A polarizing president.<\/strong> From her critically-acclaimed role as Annalise Keating in How To Get Away With Murder, to her lead role as Nanisca in The Woman King, Viola Davis knows how to keep an audience at the edge of their seats. In G20<\/a>, the EGOT winner takes on a new kind of role \u2014 an unpopular US President with a bad knee who still manages to take on an entire terrorist organization solo. <\/p>\n

Trip to Cape Town, anyone?<\/strong> President Danielle Sutton (Davis) is in a bit of a pickle; she\u2019s lost the respect of other world leaders, and her own people don\u2019t take her seriously either. The army vet-turned president, however, is confident in the path she\u2019s trodding, which takes her to Cape Town to attend a G20 summit. There, she plans to present a proposal to solve world hunger by giving much of the world\u2019s population access to digital currency. The issue? Well, a certain someone would be losing a lot of money were Sutton\u2019s plan to go through.<\/p>\n

An inside job.<\/strong> When Sutton\u2019s own team betrays her at the summit and holds a score of world leaders and their spouses hostage, Sutton \u2014 who\u2019s been in a similar predicament before \u2014 manages to escape and turn the tables, hunting down the turncoats and their mercenaries in an attempt to save her own family and her international peers. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s a cookie-cutter action movie, but here\u2019s the thing about cookies, everyone loves <\/strong>them.<\/strong> G20 isn\u2019t a revolutionary film in any sense of the word, yet it\u2019s far from being a bad one. The film is well-paced, has no plot holes, and delivers on the action sequences \u2014 with a few scenes towards the end that will have you subconsciously clapping. The entire cast delivers great performances, with Davis and Antony Starr (Homelander from The Boys) stealing the spotlight.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a new kind of role for the How To Get Away With Murder star<\/strong>, and she kills it. There\u2019s something exciting in seeing Davis kicking off her heels, putting on a pair of comfy sneakers, and starting to hunt down terrorists across a fortified no-one-in, no-one-out hotel. If you\u2019re looking for a quick watch with a lot of action, G20 is a safe bet you can make. Pro tip: wait for the post credits scenes. <\/p>\n
