Your go-to Levantine comfo<\/strong>rt food destination: <\/strong>Khobzeh w Shawerma<\/a> is coming up with previously undiscovered ways to savor your shawerma at their Maadi and Sheikh Zayed branches, introducing fresh combinations of a classic meal to Egyptian streets.<\/p>\n

Their variety of khobzehs, another word for pita bread in S<\/strong>hami<\/strong> dialect<\/strong>, was our favorite <\/strong>on the menu. <\/strong>We recommend trying their beef khobzeh with pomegranate molasses \u2014 the softness of the pita bread and the tenderness of the beef are complemented by the sharp tang of the molasses. Don\u2019t forget the fries \u2014 having a couple with every bite is a very Egyptian way to enjoy this Levantine sandwich.<\/p>\n

Their chicken fattah dish doesn\u2019t stray far from a typical Syrian fattah, but has a unique <\/strong>twist. <\/strong>Slices of chicken shawarma are layered above a bed of yellow-colored basmati rice, topped with a creamy yogurt sauce laden with spices. A handful of cashews are added on top to balance out the flavors in the dish, in addition to pickles on the side for a salty kick. <\/p>\n

We hear their broast is a crowd favorite: <\/strong>We came for their famous fried chicken \u2014 or broast as they call it \u2014 which has been the talk of the town on social media, but were heartbroken to find out that it wasn't available in their Maadi branch. So if you're looking to get in on this viral dish, make your way to their Sheikh Zayed branch.<\/p>\n

But not everything on the menu made a splash. <\/strong>The Mexican shawerma sandwich, rolled in a saj bread this time, wasn\u2019t a standout. It\u2019s your run-of-the-mill shawerma sandwich, with the addition of a spicy tomiyya sauce \u2014 that\u2019s not so spicy \u2014- lacking the burst of flavors and spice you\u2019d usually expect from a Mexican dish.<\/p>\n
