The move would be part of the government's efforts to localize the auto industry, the source said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The plan would come as part of a larger <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f647b041-de7c-4af0-b0f5-c8c09cc24ff8\/gov%25e2%2580%2599t-working-to-replace-long-list-of-fees,-charges-with-single-unified-additional%253cmark%253e-tax%253c%2Fmark%253e-on-net-income\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">overhaul<\/a><\/strong><strong> of the current tax system<\/strong>, with the government looking to replace many of the various fees charged by different entities with a single unified additional tax on net income, which aims to streamline the tax system and reduce the administrative burden on businesses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The move comes amid other initiatives to help localize the auto industry<\/strong>, including the Finance Ministry allocating some EGP 3 bn in the upcoming fiscal year\u2019s budget to fund the Automotive Industry Development Program (AIDP), up from the EGP 1 bn it had allocated for the current fiscal year, the source said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The government is also looking to attract more manufacturers to the local automotive <\/strong><strong>in<\/strong><strong>dustry<\/strong>, especially Chinese companies, who have shown particular interest in investing in Egypt, our source said. The AIDP will dole out some EGP 1.5 bn worth of incentives to its participants, with the funds having already been integrated into the central clearing system.
