President Abdel Fattah El Sisi formally welcomed 23 new ambassadors to the country <\/strong>yesterday<\/strong>, after receiving their credentials<\/a>. On the list from our part of the world were Algeria\u2019s Mohamed Berrah, South Sudan\u2019s Kuol Nyok Kuol, Kenya\u2019s Frederick Otieno Outa, Central African Republic\u2019s Guy Rodrigue Gambi, Equatorial Guinea\u2019s Amadeo Efa Mba Nchama, Chad\u2019s Mahamat Abdelkerim Hanno.<\/p>\n

Representing the Americas<\/strong> were Canada\u2019s Ulric Shannon, Argentina\u2019s Holger Federico Martinsen, Cuba\u2019s Alexander Pellicer Moraga, Dominican Republic\u2019s Ysset Rom\u00e1n Maldonado, and Panama\u2019s Ricardo Isaza Ram\u00edrez.<\/p>\n

While representing our friends in south and southeast Asia were<\/strong> Malaysia\u2019s Dato\u2019 Mohd Tarid bin Sufian, Thailand\u2019s Thanawat Sirikul, Sri Lanka\u2019s Appuhamige Sisira Kumara Senavirathne, and Myanmar\u2019s Kyaw Tin Shein.<\/p>\n

And representing our neighbours to the north<\/strong> were Germany\u2019s J\u00fcrgen Schulz, Belgium\u2019s Bart De Groof, Sweden\u2019s Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt, Finland\u2019s Riikka Eela, Switzerland\u2019s Andreas Baum, Armenia\u2019s Armen Sargsyan, and Kazakhstan\u2019s Askar Zhengis.<\/p>\n

The list also included Angelina Eichhorst, who is now officially the European Union\u2019s <\/strong>representative to Egypt<\/strong>, after presenting her credential, according to a s<\/a>tatement (pdf)<\/a> from the bloc. The Dutch native has previous experience in the region, having headed the EU delegation to Lebanon between 2011-2015 and spent time posted in Syria and Jordan.<\/p>\n
