?<\/strong> If you\u2019ve ever thought the American West seemed like the perfect place for a relaxing <\/strong>family road trip, think again.<\/strong> American Primeval<\/a> is a Netflix series that takes the clich\u00e9 cowboy life and drowns it in cold, gritty realism \u2014 and as it turns out, 1850s Utah was no picnic.<\/p>\n

Here's how it goes:<\/strong> The show follows Sarah Rowell (Betty Gilpin) and her son Devin (Preston Mota) as they trek across the lawless Utah Territory, desperate to reach Sarah\u2019s husband. Along the way, they\u2019re met with a dead guide, an unpredictable guide, bounty hunters, hostile Mormons, and a whole lot of gunfire. <\/p>\n

But the real question is \u2014 what is Sarah's journey really about?<\/strong> Things get even more complicated when a bounty hunter appears hot on her trail seeking to claim the hefty reward for her capture. Let\u2019s just say, peace and quiet are not part of the package.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not for the faint of heart, or anyone looking for a lighthearted watch. <\/strong>This show is violent, bleak, and filled with enough tension to keep you on the edge of your seat. While there are no promises that anyone's getting out alive, the show is worth your time \u2014 the performances are what makes it worthwhile and the brutal survivalist drama will have you hooked from the first episode. <\/p>\n
