Donald Trump\u2019s proposal <\/strong>t<\/strong>o<\/strong> \u201cjust clear out\u201d Gaza led the conversation on<\/strong> last night\u2019s talk shows<\/strong>, with the dangerous and worrying suggestion sparking passionate and often angry responses from the nation\u2019s talking heads. <\/p>\n

Much of the world\u2019s press had also led their coverage throughout the day with the newly<\/strong> elected president\u2019s comments<\/strong>, which emerged early yesterday and quickly led to condemnation from Egypt, Jordan<\/a>, the Palestinian Authority, and others. Trump\u2019s comments to reporters saw him propose that the masses of displaced Palestinians be pushed into Egypt and Jordan.<\/p>\n

Egypt strongly rejected the proposal in a <\/strong>statement<\/a><\/strong> by the Foreign Ministry<\/strong> that reiterated it \u201ccontinued support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and their commitment to their legitimate rights to their homeland.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nation\u2019s talking heads responded in a less restrained manner<\/strong>, with Lamees El Hadidi telling her viewers on Kelma Akhira that the US president \u201cdoesn\u2019t care about international law, homeland, right and wrong, or the concept of ethnic cleansing and displacement. The host continued that \u201cwhat Trump wants is Israel\u2019s security and to eliminate the headache of the Palestinian issue\u201d (watch, runtime: 8:44<\/a>). <\/p>\n

Ahmed Moussa was even more vocal in his opposition, declaring that \u201cIf necessary, we <\/strong>will defend our land\u201d <\/strong>during his primetime slot on Ala Mas\u2019ouleety (watch, runtime: 1:04:05<\/a>). Moussa argued that the plan to relocate Palestinians to Sinai dates back decades and that \u201cEgypt will never give up Sinai or allow it to become an alternative homeland for Palestinians.\u201d Stressing Egypt\u2019s independence and willingness to exercise its sovereignty, Moussa added that \u201cneither Trump nor anyone else can impose their wishes on us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some stressed that the country is united its opposition to the proposal<\/strong>, including Amr Adib who said on his show El Hekaya (watch, runtime: 8:07<\/a>, 17:19<\/a>) that There is both public and official rejection of the relocation plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
