Our friends at Mashreq have officially finished their <\/strong>clean-up<\/a><\/strong> of three designated zones<\/strong> in Wadi Degla Protectorate<\/strong>, as part of Mashreq\u2019s wider Climb2Change<\/a> global ESG initiative focused on sustainability-linked financing and environmental preservation, the bank said in a press conference attended by EnterpriseAM yesterday. The wider initiative aims to scale and clean up 14 mountain sites around the world, reaching seven peaks and seven base camps. <\/p>\n

The project\u2019s Wadi Degla initiative removed nearly 2.2 tonnes of general waste and 120<\/strong> tonnes of construction waste from the area<\/strong>, with Mashreq employees and external volunteers led by esteemed Egyptian adventurers Omar Samra and Manal Rostom contributing a total of 809 hours to the cleanup, the bank said in a statement (pdf)<\/a> following the event. The clean up also benefited 72 local entities as part of the initiatives aim to also have a positive social impact.<\/p>\n

What they said: \u201c<\/strong>Completing the Wadi Degla Protectorate clean-up as part of the global Climb2Change initiative underscores Mashreq\u2019s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. This mission is a vital component of our broader ESG strategy, where we not only focus on immediate impact but also foster long-term change by engaging our employees and local communities,\u201d said Mashreq Egypt CEO Amr El Bahey.<\/p>\n
