Hilton is amping up its presence in Egypt<\/strong>, with the global hospitality brand working on tripling its presence in Egypt\u2019s market by opening 25 new hotels across the country, which are all in the pipeline, the company said in a statement (<\/a>pdf<\/a>)<\/a>. The projects in Hilton\u2019s overall pipeline will create 5k jobs. The announcement follows the signing of ten additional properties under a number of Hilton\u2019s international brands.<\/p>\n

The move comes as part of a larger goal for Hilton to have 40 hotels operating in Egypt <\/strong>over the coming years,<\/strong> the statement reads. <\/p>\n

The new target is significantly higher than what Hilton <\/strong>was gunning for<\/a><\/strong> in 2023<\/strong>, when the company\u2019s regional president, JJ Sleiffer told EnterpriseAM that they were planning on doubling their portfolio from 14 to 27 in a 3-5 year time period. <\/p>\n

The brands include Hilton\u2019s lifestyle brand Tapestry Collection by Hilton, as well as Curio<\/strong> Collection by Hilton<\/strong> \u2014 both of which will be making their debuts in Egypt\u2019s market. Hilton is also gearing up to launch the Hilton Cairo Nile Maadi by early 2025. <\/p>\n

What they said:<\/strong> \u201cEgypt is our longest standing market in the MEA region, where we\u2019ve been operating for more than 60 years. We are excited to continue building on this legacy as we accelerate our growth, and we look forward to working closely with our valued owners to provide guests with reliable and friendly stays across the country,\u201d the hotel chain\u2019s regional VP of development, Carlos Khneisser, said.<\/p>\n

Remember: Despite initial concern that Israel\u2019s numerous wars on its neighbours would <\/strong>hit the local tourism industry hard, tourist footfall is expected to hit a record this year<\/strong>, with projections<\/a> from the Tourism Ministry forecasting a 5% y-o-y jump to 15.3 mn. The government aims to attract some 25 mn tourists annually<\/a> by 2028 \u2014 which it is trying to accommodate<\/a> by adding some 240-250k rooms to the existing hotel room capacity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
