Another Chinese company kicks off construction in the SCZone:<\/strong> Chinese luggage manufacturer Hangzhou Henneway Travel Goods \u2014 whose client brands include Samsonite, Swissgear, Travelite, and Delsey \u2014 kicked off construction on its USD 50 mn factory in the Suez Canal Economic Zone\u2019s (SCZone) Qantara West Industrial Zone, according to an SCZone statement<\/a>. The factory is set to cover 120k sqm area and is expected to create some 3k new job opportunities in the region.<\/p>\n

We knew this was coming:<\/strong> The Chinese manufacturer inked the agreement<\/a> with the SCZone back in December 2023, with the original project kickoff date set for 1Q 2025.<\/p>\n

What they said:<\/strong> SCZone head Walid Gamal El Din noted that the Henneway project \u201cenhances the SCZone\u2019s cooperation with Chinese investors, whose investments have now exceeded USD 3 bn.\u201d He added that the project will bolster the zone\u2019s position as a regional industrial and commercial hub, particularly in the luggage manufacturing sector.<\/p>\n
