Jaguar has revealed its first EV as the automaker enters its electric era. <\/strong>The news of the reveal \u2014 which follows an unsanctioned leak<\/a> on Monday \u2014 comes after the company\u2019s controversial rebranding<\/a> and car-less campaign video<\/a> invited backlash<\/a> for supposedly erasing the brand identity that has been built over the company\u2019s 90-year history.<\/p>\n

The brand\u2019s new car, named Type 00, is unlike anything we\u2019ve seen from Jaguar or any <\/strong>other car brand \u2014 <\/strong>staying true to founder Sir William Lyons\u2019 instruction to \u201cbe the copy of nothing.\u201d The two \u201c0\u201ds represent the zero tailpipe emissions that will come as Jaguar makes the transition to producing solely EVs, with the additional \u201c0\u201d signifying the brand\u2019s comprehensive reset. With a truck-like nose, long hood, and shallow glasshouse, chief creative officer for Jaguar Land Rover Gerry McGovern has said that the new car model showcases<\/a> Jaguar\u2019s \u201cfearless creativity.\u201d <\/p>\n

The company has a new target audience. <\/strong>The new customer base will be more creative, urban, affluent, and probably younger than those Jaguar previously targeted, according to managing director Rawdon Glover. He believes that the brand \u201cneeds to build a relationship with almost an entirely new client base.\u201d<\/p>\n

But don\u2019t write that check just yet. <\/strong>The Type 00 is merely a \u201cdesign vision concept\u201d and will not be up for sale. The first actual car that customers will be able to purchase will be a four-door grand tourer with a range of 770 km that will likely resemble the Type 00\u2019s exterior style. It\u2019s expected to cost around GBP 100k \u2014 almost double today\u2019s GBP 55k average price for a Jaguar. But it seems like we\u2019ll have to wait till summer 2026 to see its reveal, along with the two SUVs that are set to follow. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
