Netflix is ending its seven-year experiment with interactive content:<\/strong> Starting from Sunday, 1 December nearly all of Netflix\u2019s interactive titles<\/a> will be delisted as the streaming service pivots to new areas, The Verge<\/a> reports. The decision signals the end of an era for Netflix\u2019s interactive content, with company spokesperson Chrissy Kelleher noting that the streaming giant is turning its \u201cfocus on technological efforts in other areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who\u2019s getting the boot? <\/strong>All but four of Netflix\u2019s interactive holdings will be leaving the site, with Black Mirror: Bandersnatch<\/a>, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend<\/a>, Ranveer vs. Wild with Bear Grylls<\/a>, and You vs. Wild<\/a> to be the last remaining \u2018choose-your-own-adventure\u2019 series available on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Netflix has had a hard time breaking into gaming: <\/strong>While the streaming giant has launched a large collection of mobile games, its attempt to create higher-end AAA games<\/a> ended up dead on arrival after the streaming giant shuttered its game development studio<\/a> without releasing a single title. And though it has launched a game streaming beta<\/a> aimed at expanding game access across all devices, the platform remains in the testing phase more than a year after its debut.<\/p>\n

It was a good idea back in 2017:<\/strong> Netflix launched its first interactive special, Puss in Book:<\/a>Trapped in an Epic Tale<\/a>, in 2017, with the company experimenting widely with trivia games and show spinoffs in the years that followed. Now, the company is moving in a different direction, with former Netflix gaming boss Mike Verdu telling Game File<\/a> that the company is no longer developing interactive content.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
