Contractors have been urging the state to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alborsanews.com\/2017\/03\/08\/990017\">hasten the bill<\/a> \u2014 which will compensate suppliers and contractors for FX losses incurred after the EGP float \u2014 since it was first proposed in December, claiming that the delay has been straining the sector, whose material costs have increased exponentially since November.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the legislative agenda next week: <strong>The House of Representatives\u2019 Manpower Committee will begin discussing the Labor Act on Monday, <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alborsanews.com\/2017\/03\/08\/990205\">according to Al Borsa<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2016\/11\/23\/final-draft-of-the-labor-act-ready-to-be-discussed-by-cabinet-today\/\">The bill<\/a> is geared more towards securing workers\u2019 financial and social rights, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.almalnews.com\/Pages\/StoryDetails.aspx?ID=325478\">MPs tell Al Mal<\/a>, with clauses that preserve the eight-hour workday, will force private sector companies to institute an annual raise of at least 7%, and enshrine workers\u2019 right to strike. The legislation also establishes a National Wages Council that is expected to set new guidelines for pensions and minimum wage among other things.
