Rising electricity prices and bumps in pension payouts<\/strong> were in the limelight on CBC Extra with Lamees Al Hadidi last night.<\/p>\n

Lamees first spoke to Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali,<\/strong> who explained that the increase in the minimum monthly pension payment to EGP 150 from EGP 130 came at the request of the House majority bloc, the pro-government Support Egypt Coalition (watch<\/a>, runtime 5:49).<\/p>\n

Lamees then suggested that rising electricity prices should come as no surprise<\/strong>, as the Electricity Ministry is the only government body to have adopted and communicated a clear and progressive pricing scheme since 2014. The host said consumers should also brace themselves for a hike in fuel prices, which will come \u201csooner or later\u201d (watch<\/a>, runtime 1:56).<\/p>\n

Over on Kol Youm, Lamees\u2019 lesser half focused on the attack on the Finsbury Park mosque <\/strong>in London, <\/strong>which left one person dead.
