FAO opened 15 schools in Assuit, Aswan, Beni Suef, Fayoum and Sohag, and says its courses have helped farmers in Beni Suef increase their yields by 50%. The schools also teach them about climate change, which is increasing inflicting damage on their crops and driving some to give up the business altogether.
