Egypt, Sweden, and France have all called upon the UN Security Council to address the <\/strong>latest round of Israeli-Palestinian violence in Jerusalem<\/strong>, Reuters reports<\/a>. Eight Palestinians have reportedly been killed in a spat of violence over Israel\u2019s recent restrictions on access to Al Aqsa Mosque. Arab League officials are also urging Israel to calm the situation.<\/p>\n

This comes as Egypt may open the Rafah border crossing with Gaza by late August <\/strong>as part of a three-way agreement between Hamas, Fatah, and Egypt, exiled Fatah leader Mohammed Dahlan tells the Associated Press<\/a>. Hamas will also set up a USD 100 mn power plant in Egypt, funded by the UAE, to supply the Gaza Strip with electricity.
