<\/a> President Abdel Fattah El Sisi should issue a public statement denouncing proposals by <\/strong>MPs to extend his presidential term to six years<\/strong>, writes Amr Rabei for Al Masry Al Youm<\/a>. The justification for the proposal \u2014 which apparently was that since Egypt is now more stable, there is no need to strictly abide the current prescription of the constitution \u2014 makes no sense. He cites article 226 of the constitution which clearly bars any amendments to articles that restrict presidential terms.
