President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met in New York yesterday with a number of world <\/strong>leaders<\/strong>, holding one-on-one meetings with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan (pdf)<\/a> and Saudi Arabia\u2019s US Ambassador Prince Khaled Bin Salman (pdf)<\/a> to talk regional and Arab affairs \u2014 where the Qatar smackdown featured heavily. He also met both Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, <\/strong>according to an Ittihadiya statement<\/a>. The meeting with Abbas focused on the Palestinian reconciliation efforts which appear to bearing fruit, while the meeting with Netanyahu \u2014 which was their first ever public meeting, according to the Times of Israel<\/a> \u2014 discussed the peace process.<\/p>\n

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry also held meetings with his counterparts from Saudi <\/strong>Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain <\/strong>in New York yesterday, according to a ministry statement<\/a>. The quartet discussed the next steps to take in their spat with Qatar, and agreed that they will maintain their demands for Doha to stop funding and supporting terrorism, Al Shorouk reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shoukry also<\/strong> participated yesterday in a ministerial meeting of countries<\/strong><\/a> which see <\/strong>eye-to-eye on resolving the Syrian crisis<\/strong> (which naturally included Russia and Iran) on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session. The group discussed their countries\u2019 proposed plans to enact a political resolution in Syria, and their visions for the country post-Daesh.<\/p>\n

Dabaa is also on the gov\u2019t diplomatic agenda:<\/strong> This comes as Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker assured the International Atomic Energy Agency that the Dabaa nuclear plant will be managed with a high level of safety, at organization\u2019s general meeting in Vienna yesterday, Al Masry Al Youm reports<\/a>.
