ON THIS DAY- <\/strong>On this day in 1978, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and US President Jimmy Carter signed the <\/strong>Camp David Accords<\/strong><\/a> in Washington. The accords laid the groundwork for peace between Egypt and Israel and called for a formal peace treaty to be signed between the two countries within three months and for establishment of diplomatic relations.
