Even though Beijing\u2019s foreign policy has always steered clear of meddling in others\u2019 affairs, the Chinese could take a leaf out of Russia\u2019s book for this one,<\/strong> using their influence as a major economic player to \u201cforce actors in the Middle East to cooperate.\u201d Oil, for example, could hold a lot of sway. The author notes that China is vital to the Middle East\u2019s oil economy, pointing out \u2014 in the Saudi Arabian case specifically \u2014 that \u201cif Beijing was to accelerate its domestic oil output decline, or buy GCC oil to store in their Strategic Petroleum Reserve, then the situation in the Middle East could improve.\u201d<\/p>\n
