The city of a thousand restoration projects: <\/strong>As part of efforts to restore Islamic-era monuments in Cairo\u2019s historic center and a new push to promote the city as a tourist destination with more to offer than just the pyramids, several recently renovated monuments were officially unveiled<\/a> at the start of the week, Reuters<\/a> reports. The projects that were restored with the help of USAID were inaugurated by US Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg, Supreme Council of Antiquities Secretary General Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Deputy Tourism Minister Yamna Al Bahar, and other senior US and Egyptian officials.<\/p>\n
