Egypt is back on the international press\u2019 radar after an unusually quiet week. The homecoming <\/strong>of Irish-Egyptian national Ibrahim Halawa topped coverage of Egypt in international headlines this morning. <\/strong>Halawa arrived in Dublin yesterday, accompanied by his sister Nosayba and Irish Ambassador to Egypt Se\u00e1n O\u2019Regan, following his release from prison after four years of waiting for a verdict in a mass trial, reported The Irish Times<\/a>. Reuters<\/a>, RTE<\/a>, BBC<\/a>, and other Irish and UK news agencies also have the story.<\/p>\n

Coming in at a close second was President Abdel Fattah El Sisi\u2019s meeting with French <\/strong>President Emmanuel Macron.<\/strong> Coverage of the Paris meeting focused heavily on the human rights angle<\/a>, with \u201cburgeoning military ties<\/a>\u201d and counterterrorism<\/a> also making appearances.
