The House of Representatives\u2019 Health Committee is trying to set the minimum wage as the baseline salary to pay into the Universal Healthcare Act. the committee tasked the ministries of finance, social solidarity and CAPMAS to determine which citizens will be exempt from paying premiums into the Universal Healthcare Act based on the national minimum wage and annual inflation rates, and will be adjusted on a triennial basis, Youm7 reports<\/a>. Vice Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait had said earlier this month<\/a> that the state will cover pay the equivalent of 5% of the standard minimum wage for each person who cannot afford to pay premiums on their monthly salary. Employees are expected to pay 1% of their salary into the system to cover the scheme\u2019s costs.
