The neighborhood itself is already inhabited, largely with \u201cself-built housing\u201d that may have contributed to a rising water table. However, general contractors are also looking to press ahead with new construction projects in the area, which may further jeopardize \u201cthe trove of antiquities underneath\u201d the surface. \u201cIn a place like Egypt, which is densely populated, there\u2019s a conflict.
