MNT-Halan enters the Turkish market: <\/strong>Fintech leader MNT-Halan has fully acquired Turkish commercial finance company Tam Finans<\/a> from Actera Group<\/a>, according to a press release (pdf)<\/a>. The company did not disclose the terms of the transaction.<\/p>\n

The upside:<\/strong> Tam Finans\u2019 over USD 300 mn loan book provides MNT-Halan with a significant foothold in a market with 85 mn consumers and a low household debt-to-GDP ratio, offering significant growth potential for digital financial services in the coming period.<\/span><\/p>\n

The plan: <\/strong>MNT aims to combine \u201cTam Finans\u2019 credit models, distribution capabilities, and management team with MNT Halan\u2019s technology, customer-facing app, and financial muscle\u201d in order to \u201ccomplete the product offering and give greater confidence to all its stakeholders,\u201d MNT-Halan founder and CEO Mounir Nakhla said.<\/p>\n

ICYMI: <\/strong>MNT-Halan recently raised USD 157.7 mn<\/a> in a funding round expected to bankroll the country\u2019s international expansion plans. \u201cWhile Egypt remains our primary market, we are committed to revolutionizing access to financial services through technology beyond Egypt\u2019s borders,\u201d Nakhla said at the time.<\/p>\n

MNT\u2019s second big buy this year:<\/strong> MNT-Halan acquired Pakistani microfinance firm Advans<\/a>Pakistan Microfinance<\/a>Bank<\/a> back in March.<\/p>\n

Advisors: <\/strong>Maatouk Bassiouny & Hennawy, Esin Attorney Partnership, and Van Campen Liem were MNT\u2019s legal advisors. Clifford Chance was the seller\u2019s legal advisor.
